Leather Recliner Chair Care

Simple Guidelines

After you've bought your leather recliner chair you'll probably just want to get your feet up and relax. However, to keep it in the best possible condition pay a quick thought to the following simple guidelines.

How Durable is Leather

Leather is actually incredibly tough and durable, much more so that many modern fabrics. It can last up to 20 years if cared for properly. The main cause of damage is scratching, which can cut or score the hide. Avoid sharp keys in your back pocket, or other items that could cut or mark the leather.

Dealing with Spillages

Spillages in most cases can be dealt with relatively easily. Should the worst happen and you need to take emergency action, make sure to dab or blot the liquid off rather than wipe it. This will minimise staining, make sure to use a damp clean cloth.

General Maintenance

Leather is breathable which gives it it's well known characteristics of being cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The best way to maintain the leather is to wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove any dust that has accumulated. Warm soapy water can be used in some cases, but exercise caution.

Hide feeds are available which can be rubbed into the leather to keep it supple and strong. Older leather can become brittle and cracked.

Keep it simple, hoover the chair once in a while and give it a wipe down. That should be enough to keep you reclining happily for years to come.
